Glen Cameron Urquhart

Glen Cameron Urquhart, of Montreal, QC, Halifax, NS, and Victoria, BC died in Victoria, BC of cardiac arrest on 26 July 2017. He was 75. Glen was born in Montreal, QC on June 15, 1942 to Thomas Cameron and Olive Louise (Price) Urquhart. He attended John Rennie High School and left after graduation to join the Royal Canadian Navy in 1960. He became a helicopter pilot, flying off the navy's last aircraft carrier, HMCS Bonaventure, as well as numerous other ships. Prior to retirement he was the commanding officer of the Halifax Rescue Coordination Centre. He retired as a Lieutenant-Commander in 1989, and moved to Victoria. Here he took the Canadian Securities Course, and went on to earn an undergraduate degree at the University of Victoria. He was an active volunteer, working with Oak Bay Volunteers doing income tax for over 20 years, a 3-term member of the University of Victoria's Human Research Ethics Board, a volunteer advocate with The Arthritis Society for many years, as well as a member of its Divisional Advisory Board. Glen is survived by his wife of 45 years, Lorraine (Isaac).
